What I Learnt Today : 10 Unknown Amazing Facts About Animals - Part CXIII

(1) A starving mouse will eat its own tail.
(2) Dik-diks weigh between three and six kilogrammes.
(3) Hummingbirds beat their wings 60 to 80 times per second.
(4) Ants never sleep. Also they don’t have lungs.

(5) The most poisonous fish in the world is the stone fish.
(6) When a male tiger and female lion mate they make a tigon, when a male lion and female tiger mate they make a liger.
(7) A full-grown bear can run as fast as a horse.

(8) Fireflies are the only creatures that give off light without generating heat.
(9) Only half of a dolphin’s brain sleeps at a time. The other awake half makes the dolphin come up for air when needed to prevent drowning.
(10) Most young fireflies feed on nectar and pollen, although adult fireflies do not need to eat to survive.

Visiting deep inside the Sundarbans & spent days with Bawali - Episode #05

In the last October-November I visited Sundarbans, the world's one of the largest mangrove forest. It was also declared as world heritage site by UNESCO in 1997. In this forest a numerous wildlife species exist - birds, reptiles, fishes, amphibians and also the king of the forest "Royal Bengal Tiger". The ganges dolphins & crocodiles are also living in the canals of Sundarbans. Chital is a one kind of spotted deer living in this forest. The rural life in the area of this coastal forest is also very attractive. They basically maintain their lives by collecting honey, woods and fishes. In the native language they are called as Bawali.
